Nuclear Bombs in Suitcases
October 31, 2005 08:50 AM
Don't miss this article.
This is excellent reporting from one of the best in the business. Richard Miniter's Suitcase Nukes from the Opinion Journal of the Wall Street Journal, my favored news source.
His book, listed at the bottom of the article, is must reading for anyone who wants to be in a position to think about the War on Terror (what a name) and what is reported in the media.
I have seen Mr. Miniter interviewed on CSpan. He is brilliant, thoughtful, and has a penetrating logic to his arguments, always critically evaluating the many facts that are thrown about in support of various points of view.

Hi Art,
To say the least, that was an interesting article.
However, I remember reading a book years ago called, I believe, "The Curve of Binding Energy" which chronicled the life of Ted Taylor, a very clever guy who designed one of the smallest ever nuclear bombs. He spent the latter part of his life working to stop the spread of these weapons primarily due to his concern they might end up in the hands of terrorists. One thing I do recall about the book was his concern that the World Trade Centers could be taken down with not more than a suitcase amount of nuclear weaponry. He was pessimistic but perhaps too much so given the content of the Miniker article.
Thanks for the link.
