“I did 10 to 15 triathlons per year, from age 38 to age 45.  From Sprint, to Olympic to Half Ironman distance. Also ate way too many processed carbs.  Routine physical (EKG) and subsequent echo at age 45 discovered an enlarged heart (LVH).   Curtailed my triathlon training and races, and adopted Evolutionary Fitness exercise and diet.  My LVH has receded significantly (> 50% reduction). I’ve lost fat, am stronger than I was, and way quicker and more “springs” on the basketball court (love schooling those 20 year olds).

Had I continued down the extreme endurance path, I fear I would have been one of those “healthy” endurance athletes who had a very bad, potentially fatal event.

I still get out and do one triathlon per year, but it’s short (a sprint), and I take it real easy, keeping my heart rate about 60% of max.  It’s just too fun to swim then bike then run every now and again.

Art’s advice has changed my life, perhaps even saved it.”
