Humans are the only animal that can make glucose from fat. This is an evolutionary clue to the importance of fat to brain function. That fat you carry is there for your muscle and your brain. But, if you carry too much of it, those greedy fat cells begin to steal nutrients and to intrude into your organs and muscle.
