A Handy Protein to Fat ReferenceStill eating protein bars? Compared to real food, they are high in calories per gram of protein and have a low protein to fat ratio. Choice beef, duck, and lamb---all domesticated, almost obese animals, are not much better than a protein bar in protein/fat ratio, though they do have a complete amino acid sequence which is very important for satiety and protein synthesis, something the protein bar almost surely lacks. Have a look at this list of protein sources, calories and protein/fat ratio. I can find boar, buffalo, ostrich, and elk locally in a restaurant or supermarket. I had buffalo last night for my birthday dinner. As a kid, I remember eating rabbit and squirrel when we visited relatives in Amana, Iowa. I liked rabbit them. My uncle was a squirrel hunter of some reknown in the little community. Of course, seafood trumps all these.
