Go to your Profile/Other/Recurring Payments and set automatic renewal to OFF unless you want to be automatically renewed. If you want to sign up for the long-term, with automatic renewal you leave that setting to ON and email us so we can set that as your status. This is causing a lot of confusion and a lot of work for us, but your PayPal settings are out of our control.
